Brooke Bradley Murphy was born in Missoula, Montana, but grew up on the West Coast, primarily in Portland, Oregon. She returned to her Native Montana to attend college at Montana State University in Bozeman in 1992. Brooke graduated with honors in Business Marketing in 1997. In 2000, she obtained her Juris Doctorate from the University of Montana School of Law. While in law school, Brooke was a member of the School of Law’s National Moot Court Team, for which she was selected as a National Member of the Order of Barristers. She was also a recipient of the Carol Mitchell Award, which recognizes a student dedicated to and demonstrating excellence in the study and practice of dispute resolution.
Following law school, Brooke Murphy joined the law firm now known as Matovich, Keller & Murphy, PC. She became a shareholder in January of 2006. Brooke is currently a member of the Defense Research Institute and the Montana Defense Trial Lawyers Association, and her state and local bar associations. She is also a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel and the Litigation Counsel of America. Brooke is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. Brooke has served on the board and as the secretary/treasurer of the Yellowstone Area Bar Association and currently serves as the president of the Alberta Bair Theater Board of Advisors. Brooke is on the Board of Visitors for the Alexander Blewett III School of Law at the University of Montana.
Brooke has been selected by her peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers of America in the fields of Products Liability Litigation and Commercial Litigation yearly since 2009. She has been named a Mountain States Super Lawyer or Rising Star every year since 2008. Brooke is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell, indicating the highest level of professional excellence.
Brooke focuses her practice on civil litigation, including medical malpractice defense, commercial and insurance defense, class action litigation, and products liability litigation. She has served as lead counsel in a number of litigated cases ranging from medical malpractice matters to commercial contract disputes. In addition to all Montana state courts, Brooke is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of Montana and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Brooke is married to Gavin Murphy and together they have three incredible children. When not in the office, Brooke enjoys coaching and/or attending her kids’ sporting events and traveling with her family.
